Why can you only hunt certain game in certain seasons?

People hunt deer to have them hanging over a fireplace or they want to have deer Hamburgers in there freezers. Some people want to have the jerky or just Some thing to do with there meat. You can only hunt game on a certain season since some people just got out there and kill them for the fun of it. I think it is good to be able to hunt only on the seasons you are only aloud too. I like it since that you need be be able to hunt the next year so that mean you have to leave some to be able to reproduce.
